training & supportOur objective is to fully educate our clients regarding every facet of running a successful Teen Discount Variety Store.
Once your lease is signed, our Operations Manager will be in constant contact with every new storeowner. Together, they will coordinate the pre-buildout process, ensuring that all permits and licenses required have been addressed, and follow through with landlords and contractors to make sure that the store space is ready as quickly as possible. Members of the Operations Staff will work with you on the sourcing and design of your exterior signage, and later will coordinate the timely arrival of your opening orders; merchandise, equipment, and supplies.
Once the store space is ready, we send to the store site one of our Buildout Supervisors who will coordinate the buildout crew in the assembly and installation of fixtures, and the stocking of all merchandise. Store owners are encouraged to be available during the buildout process, as the Buildout Supervisor will be demonstrating various stocking techniques, set up of the cash registers, and freight processing. On the last day of the buildout, the store is ready to open. The Buildout Supervisor will be there to ensure that the new owner is comfortable in their role as business owners.

Our wholesale company will assign a representative to work with each new store owner. We will also provide detailed information regarding over 30 suppliers, including discounted pricing, freight concessions, and special promotions. We will also work with you on securing seasonal merchandise and assist you in selecting suppliers that can provide you, based on your geographical location, the most cost-effective purchasing opportunities. Your Wholesale Representative will contact you on a regular basis, and provide you with the monthly newsletter. The “Trendy Teen News ” newsletter is full of information on exciting new merchandise as soon as it becomes available, and discusses topics such as how to get ready for upcoming holidays, tips from other retailers, and much, much more. Your representative will do a great job for you—just ask our references!training & support

Many new store owners have retail and management experience, or have owned businesses previously. For those that do not, Customized training can be done telephonically or a combo of class room training at our corporate headquaters is available. Manuals, workbooks, and other materials are used to guide the store owner through the operational aspects of running a retail business. This training typically begins several weeks prior to the buildout, and includes follow up training support once the store has opened.
At the end of the first 30 days of each new store’s business, Teen Discount Zone, Inc. offers to perform a formal review of the store. The Store Owner submits a video of the entire store; we review the video in conjunction with the daily sales records, purchasing log, advertising history, payroll information, and the first month’s Profit and Loss Statement. Our Senior Management Staff participates in this 30-day review in an effort to confirm the new owners understand the workings of their business and are headed in the right direction. Additionally, at this same time, we will provide each owner with a form and ask them to grade our performance in the many areas involved in the setting up of their new store; we welcome your suggestions!
